World Dream Day for Reveur - Sept. 25th - -All students wear blue for Reveur!

Reveur
As the House of Reveur we are “dreamers”. We dream big and use our gifts to help others achieve their dreams. In celebration of World Dream Day (9/25), we are partnering with Kings Home to help children in challenging circumstances have hope and “sweet dreams”. We are preparing “Sweet Dreams Bags” for children at Kings Home. King’s Home is dedicated to providing shelter, safety, resources, and support to children, offering them a pathway to a brighter future.
This special service project will be for Reveur House members only (Each House will have a special activity throughout the school year). The pillars of World Dream Day are creativity, collaboration and contribution. Reveur House members will use these attributes to create “Sweet Dreams Bags”. Reveur House Families (headed by Mrs Coston, Mrs Covington, Mrs Goodwin, Mrs Halyard, Mrs Callans, Mrs Rush, Mrs Blackenburg, Mrs Bel, Mr Finch, Mrs Belcher) will collect items listed below to create Sweet Dreams Bags. Please send in any items with your student and have them place items in the box outside their House teacher’s classroom. In addition, each Reveur house member (teachers and students ) can create a card (simply fold paper or cardstock) and write an inspirational message to be placed in the bags.
The House Family that collects the most items will get a ticket to choose a free ice cream in the cafeteria, and the House Family Teacher will get a duty free lunch. Upper grade Reveur students will “stuff” the bags in their EnCORE or TAB class the week of Sept 22-25. Representatives from Kings home will pick up the donations on World Dreamer day September 25. Let’s work together to help others “DREAM BIG” !

Congratulations, Greystone! We are an iReady Super School!

Super Stretch School
We have been recognized as an iReady Super School because more than half of our students met their STRETCH GROWTH GOAL in ELA last year! This is a huge honor that we have received 2 years in a row.
Only 5 schools in Alabama earned this award and 2 are from Hoover.
Our students work hard to learn and grow and we are so proud of this recognition that shows the result of all the hard work. Of course, they could not do it without our amazing teachers teaching and encouraging them along the way.
Keep reading and doing math!

Meet our Exceptional Education Team

Our Ex. Ed. Team
We are so lucky to have an incredible Exceptional Education Team here at Greystone! These dedicated educators go above and beyond every single day to support our students with diverse learning needs. Their compassion, patience, and commitment make a lasting impact and we’re so grateful for all they do to help every child succeed!

Mrs. Pearson is our Occupational Therapist. She helps our children achieve independence in their “Occupations” one of which is being a student. She works at several of our schools and enjoys being able to work with our students as they move from elementary to middle then to high school. She enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren, working in the yard, and being crafty.

Mrs. Lenoir has been an Exceptional Education teacher at Greystone Elementary for 10 years. She subbed in the special education classrooms for several years and was inspired to get her Master’s in Collaborative Education. Mrs. Lenoir enjoys teaching her students and watching their progress.

Mrs. Thompson felt a calling to become a special education teacher after having a successful career in the corporate world. She advocates for our students and loves to celebrate their strengths. Mrs. Thompson is one of the House Coordinators and LOVES to show her House spirit.

Mrs. Rothoff has been the Speech-Language Pathologist at Greystone Elementary since 1999, and has served children and their communication needs for almost 30 years total. She has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and evaluates students for communication devices throughout the district. As a child in school, Mrs. Rothoff OFTEN got in trouble for talking too much, so it only makes sense that she makes a living by helping children “talk”!

Mrs. Belcher has been teaching special education for 21 years. She loves working with her team to ensure that each student grows academically, socially, and emotionally. She loves Alabama football, the Philadelphia Eagles, and doing fun things with her family and many pets!

Mrs. Beard is one of our enrichment teachers.  She has served as an enrichment teacher at Greystone for nine years, and she has been teaching for twenty years. Mrs. Beard enjoys helping her students reach their full potential through challenging and engaging lessons. She also enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Blackenburg is one of our enrichment teachers. She has been in this role at Greystone for seven years and has been teaching for fifteen years. Mrs. Blackenburg enjoys working with her students and facilitating their academic and social emotional growth. She loves reading, exercising, cooking, and spending time with her family.
