I am Jennifer Mayo, and I am delighted to serve as the School Counselor at Greystone Elementary this year. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and an Associate Licensed Counselor for Alabama, and this is my seventh year serving as an Elementary School Counselor. My family and I recently moved from North Alabama to Hoover, and I am excited to be a Jaguar! I have been married for nineteen years, have two children, and have two sneaky schnauzers that keep me busy. In my spare time, I enjoy watching the Houston Astros play and seeing the latest musical!
I also serve as the sponsor of the GSES Peer Helpers program. Peer Helpers are students who are trained to support their peers through challenges they may face at school. Peer Helpers are also part of a program that aims to promote positive development of students. At GSES, we are looking for fifth- grade students who understand that life can be tough sometimes, students who show kindness and acceptance toward others, and those who want to work to lend a helping hand. If you think being good to people is important and you want to learn new ways to help your classmates, then this may be the group for you!
If you have any questions about counseling or the peer helping program please contact me at jmayo@hoover.k12.al.us
