I am Jennifer Mayo, and I am delighted to serve as the School Counselor at Greystone Elementary this year. I am a National Board Certified Counselor and an Associate Licensed Counselor for Alabama, and this is my eighth year serving as an Elementary School Counselor.  My family and I recently moved from North Alabama to Hoover, and I am excited to be a Jaguar! I have been married for twenty years, have two children, and have two sneaky schnauzers that keep me busy. In my spare time, I enjoy watching the Houston Astros play and seeing the latest musical!

I also serve as the sponsor of the GSES Peer Helpers program.  Peer Helpers are students who are trained to support their peers through challenges they may face at school. Peer Helpers are also part of a program that aims to promote positive development of students.  At GSES, we are looking for fifth- grade students who understand that life can be tough sometimes, students who show kindness and acceptance toward others, and those who want to work to lend a helping hand. If you think being good to people is important and you want to learn new ways to help your classmates, then this may be the group for you!

The GSES Kindness Club that I also sponsor promotes respect, compassion, and positivity throughout our school. Open to students in grades 2–5, the club meets monthly to plan and carry out kindness-focused activities. Due to transportation considerations, membership is limited and requires completion of an application process.
Our Motto is : "Where Kindness Grows, Greystone Glows!"

If you have any questions, please email me or send me a message through Parent Square.
